Saturday event with candy, Santa, and good cheer
By ALLAN TINKER,
The weather on November 26 was tolerable but chilly. The streets were lined with lights, decorated trees, and people visiting the special attractions. Holen’s Super Valu had treats and hot cider, along with drawings for ham and turkey. They lent the north lot of their property to Santa and Mrs. Claus, where children and adults gathered seeking wish-fulfillment by the jolly couple. Santa showed up in style,
riding in shiny red fire truck on loan from the McClusky Fire District. The command center by Holen’s had a stream of visitors until 7 p.m. Other businesses offered treats or provided specials, including hot knoephla soup, egg salad sandwiches, and chili at the 363 Eatery, which
reached a “pretty full” stage during the two-hour event, with storytelling by Mary Cayla Walz at 6 p.m. for children in the meeting room of the Eatery, and many local family and social groups filling the regular seating areas. There were drawings held every few minutes here as well, with gifts for young and old alike.
