Pool opening current goal for Park Board
By ALLAN TINKER
Swimming pool renovation, painting and repairs are in full swing for a June opening, hopefully by Midsummer Fest weekend. A hole in the concrete is repaired, a water heater
failed and is being replaced and staff is trained and busy. With hot days already here, the opening of the pool is the question on nearly everyone’s list, especially children. Safety
is first, and proper testing is required before opening. Swimming lessons are planned, possibly every other week, depending upon available staff. The CPO (certified pool operator) who comes in from Garrison, is in charge of proper chemical balances for safe swimming standards. The new robot for cleaning the pool has “made a difference” according to Amber Scheurer, pool co-manager along with Carrie Foley. Snacks and other supplies are being stocked; pool use prices are set for the year. Season passes are $75 for a single
person, $130 for family of two to four people; $150 for family of 5-6, and $175 for family of 7 or more. Daily rates are $5 per person. Limits to attendance are based upon available lifeguards on duty. Repeats of special pool events, such as American Banks annual Splash Bash, currently planned for August 5, along with spool organized special days, are in the works. Other Park business included a tree down from the high winds recently.
