Passing on mom’s best skills

By ALLAN TINKER
Lynn Helm is retired. As she smiled, she said, “I can come and go as I want.” This is likely not quite so, as Lynn is a willing worker in her community and quick to volunteer her skills. She started her official work world as a nursing assistant, now referred to as CNA’s after high school graduation in 1969. She returned to that type of work several times in her work life, adding more professional service talents as a clerk for Hilmer Zimbelman when he was Register of Deeds and working at FSA for 11 years. With trumpet playing skills
not used after McClusky High School years, Dragonette, Pep Club and FHA (Future Homemakers of America) filled in nicely at other jobs. With husband Wayne, a former
schoolmate, their wedding on September 4, 1971, kept them both apart for a time. He was training in the National Guard in Alabama.
