“I am happy to be here,” smiled Cassie Busch, FNP-C, the new health care provider for Northland Community Health Care’s McClusky Clinic and Turtle Lake Clinic. “I appreciate everyone welcoming me after Sarah’s departure. My door is always open.”
She works most days at Mc-Clusky, Monday through Thurs-day, and Friday in Turtle Lake.
With three years emergency room training and five years in the hematology and oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, she feels ready to handle the varied challenges that health care can present in rural areas. Acute care is an area in which she feels she is well-trained.
Born and raised in Underwood, she is the daughter of Sandy and Phil Eastgate and the late Kevin Busch. In Underwood her mom was the secretary at the school and her step-dad works at Dakota Taxidermy. Her father was a farmer and owned ICI Construction. Her mom now works as general manager at AmericInn.
Cassie was one of five girls: with two step sisters and two full sisters. She decided she wanted to be a nurse when her father was sick with cancer.
After graduating from Under-wood High School, she graduated from MedCenter One’s School of Nursing in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree. She then went to work at Mayo, then returned to Bismarck and worked in oncology and the emergency room until she earned her FNP certification and her master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Mary.
