Neighbors helping neighbors

In the worst of times, good people step forward. This week 17 farmers stepped forward with their tractors and trucks to aid fellow farmer Stacy Sease and his wife Missy in the medical issues facing them. Stacy, who has been on the helping end many times for others, will go to Mayo Clinic in early September. By late Monday, August 30, his 17 helpers had all his hay and straw bales. 1,200, in his yard, loaded, unloaded and neatly stacked in pyramid rows. As one observer stated, “They have this down to a science.” The trucks circled from the fields west of town to Highway 200, east through McClusky and back north and west to the Sease farm. This kept empty and full trucks and other travelers from difficult situations on some of the narrower gravel roads. Bertsie’s Drive-in provided the Monday noon meal for the volunteers; ReUnion Grill provided a steak supper. Mid-State Ag. McClusky Co-op Elevator, Harvey Feed Mix, Titan Machinery, and Travis Pfennig helped provide gas and diesel. Flyway 200 provided pop and water and Vickie Lasher provided pans of bars. *Others may have contributed goods and services also, but at press time, these were all for which we had received information.
