Minnkota to add transmission line

Minnkota to add transmission line
By ALLAN TINKER
Minnkota Power Cooperative, Inc. (Minnkota) hosted a public meeting for the Center to Grand Forks Transmission Line Project, a 260-mile 345-kilovolt transmission line, at McClusky on April 13. They provided project information with updates and informed attendees of proposed route options especially those that potentially may impact landowners. The meeting was held in the City Hall Community Room.
Information stated in the following was obtained from the meeting, documents and website information obtained at that meeting, and condensed and edited for this article.
The ten-segment project, as shown on the attached map, has options in the proposed route locations. The corridors will be 1,000 feet wide, with a 150-foot right of way, when completed. The sites will occupy approximately 18 acres per land section.
Landowners will sign an easement, that lasts 99 years by ND law, and the terms will be specifically set out. Payment will be paid in either a single payment or through an annual installment plan over five years.
