Midsummer Fest again a hit
By ALLAN TINKER
Midsummer Fest was officially over following the ATV ride on Sunday. The ride culminated at the Winter House, the final stop of the tour of Lonetree Wildlife Recreation Area that also included the Wintering Dam, Faul Campground, Coal Mine Lake and 43 miles of travel. There were 25 people on 19 ATV’s for the trip.
The reports of all activities were good, with McClusky Merchant President Jeff Martwick stating only the Memorial Motorcycle run low in numbers (eight), attributed to the high winds on Saturday putting a damper on travel on the open road. The kiddie parade was a good show of talent and kids, with prizes for the top floats.
In the Midsummer Fest Main Parade’s two divisions on Saturday, Clayne Abrahamson won first place and $100; Heart of Dakota Packing won second place and $50; Sheridan Memorial Home was another first place winner of $100 and Darick Miller drove his yellow Skidoo and collected another $50. All prizes were in McClusky Merchants Certificates. Sheridan Memorial also had a great turnout at their open house on Friday with more than 40 people touring the renovated facility.
