Merchants review Midsummer successes
Merchants review Midsummer successes

At their regular monthly meeting on July 24, the McClusky Merchants Asso-ciation members took time to review the changes, the needs and the successes they had in their earlier-than-usual Midsummer Fest.
The Fest, which took place the weekend after the Fourth of July, fed 454 people (plate count) nearly 700 hot dogs at the free lunch in the park. This doesn’t take into consideration those who ate lunch at the nearby stands and didn’t go for a “free” lunch.
President Jeff Martwick stated that the taco chips “ran out” at the Grace Lutheran stand and ice cream “ran out” at the Farm Bureau stand as well. This is seen as good (and bad), an indication that attendance is growing or at least more than expected.
Bad that some people didn’t get exactly what they planned to eat but good in that it was a popular event and needs adjustment for growth next year.
The McClusky Park Board fleischkuechla supper served 180 meals, nearly depleting their stock of 192 prepared entrees; the St. John’s LYF group’s Sunday breakfast took in more than $900, which included a donation by Thrivent of $400.
