Merchants plan events

Merchants plan events

The McClusky Merchants Association, at their Nov. 22 meeting, put into motion their plans for Santa Day and the appreciation supper for the current year.
The schedule for December 14 will remain close to the same as previous events. After school is dismissed for the day, students will be given an opportunity to play Bingo for prizes donated by the Merchants Association. Bingo will be held in the elementary lunchroom area at 3:30.
The appreciation dinner will be served from 5 to 6:30, with bags of goodies for children and a chance for a photo with Santa from 5 to 6 p.m.
Also during the day, the Sher-idan County Courthouse will hold their annual Christmas Open House in the Courthouse Community Room from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec 14 in conjunction with the Merchants Santa Day/Appreciation supper.
Shirley Murray noted, “There is also a jury trial scheduled for that day also so far, that is why we are holding the open house in the Community Room.”
Along with the Santa Day events, the Merchants also discussed at their meeting how to fund the event, per plate or lump sum allotment. Walter Lipp moved to have Brandon Lauer and Vonnie Erdmann discuss and settle the issue outside of the noon meeting.
Cost entered the discussion as the immediate funds account has approximately $2,000 in it. There was some discussion as to “cashing in” a CD and then re-depositing the balance not used. Erdmann stated that it wasn’t “like they were going to lose any large amount of interest.” It was also suggested that spending more allowed serving a decent meal and not simply hot dogs and chips.
