Local FFA member wins awards
National FFA News Release
Kristin Ripplinger, a member of McClusky FFA Chapter, was named the State FFA Floriculture Entrepreneurship/Placement Proficiency award winner and received a $200 check at the state FFA convention. State winners will advance to competition for national honors.
State winner applications will be judged and rated (Gold, Silver or Bronze). If chosen as one of the 4 National finalists, each will receive a plaque and a $500 check. The national winner, selected from this group, will receive an additional $500 check and plaque.
Floriculture is using the best management practices available to efficiently produce and market field or greenhouse production of flowers (fresh and dried), foliage, and related plant materials for ornamental purposes, including the arranging, packaging and marketing of these materials
The Floriculture Proficiency award program is sponsored by Bayer Environmental Science and National FFA Foundation, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
Ripplinger also was named the State FFA Star in Agribusiness and received a $250 check at the state FFA convention. State winners are eligible to participate in competition for national honors.
Description of Award: Star in Agribusiness – The top applicant for the State FFA Degree in agribusiness in each association is recognized as the State Star in Agribusiness. This $250 cash award, provided by the National FFA Foundation, recognizes achievement in agribusiness and active involvement in the FFA.
The State Star Farmer award program is sponsored by DuPont Company, USDA Farm Service Agency and USDA Rural Development, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
