It’s Cool to be Country in McClusky

With the Sept. 8th opening of her new shop in McClusky, Melissa (Missy) Sease brought her whole family into the Main Street scene. The shop is located in the former New Look hair salon building, 213 Main St., in the north half of the building that also houses Nodak Mutual Insurance.
The easy, no steps entrance to the shop makes it convenient for all customers to enter and view the items for sale or stop for a cup of hot or cold beverages, including fruit smoothies and an assortment of coffees and teas.
The two Sease children, Kaleb, eighth grade, and Kaley, fourth grade, helped choose the fame for the shop. Stacy, Missy’s other “half” wanted the fruit smoothies, and Missy likes purses. The idea came from noticing a couple selling purses and Missy’s sister said to sell coffee, too. The whole thing grew from there.
Sease also stocks items that people make on consignment. She has pictures that were framed by father-in-law Bruce Sease, Taylor Gahner’s antler and tree decorative items, painted designs on items such as ice skates, novel signs, and painted benches.
“We like the western themes, and I enjoy finding things for people. I welcome suggestions for the business, but I prefer useful ones,” Sease said with a smile.
The Cool Country trade name is registered with the North Dakota Secretary of State and the coffee and other products are provided by a wholesaler out of Bismarck.
There is also a big choice of helium balloons for any occasion, something hard to purchase and transport home from a distant retailer. These come in handy to add a special touch to any celebration.
The store is open Monday through Friday, nine to five. “I am flexible,” said Sease. We will be open some Saturday’s during busier seasons such as deer season and I don’t mind if people call the house for something they need after hours. The number of the shop is the same as their house number: 363-2514.
“Business has been really good,” added Sease. “People are very supportive.”
