Hepper “greatest generation” veteran enjoys Honor Flight experience

For a normally reserved man, both with words and emotion, Hepper was effusive on all fronts. From the tug on his pant leg by a young boy on the Honor Flight’s return to Bismarck to the impact of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the World War II Memorial, Hepper had much to relate regarding his war and veteran experiences.
Laura, Harold’s wife, is amazed at the things she never knew, or heard before, coming out of her husband after his trip. “He talked non-stop,” she said. The ability to share with those who have like experiences is often a catalyst for emotional release by many, and these veterans are no exception to the rule.
The Roughrider Honor flight left on Sept. 10 and returned the next day from Washington, DC, packing a lasting time of memories, fellowship and fun into the trip. Hepper recalled that one of the highlights of his trip was visiting the tomb of The Unknown Soldier and the changing of the guard ritual. “Everything” was the best, smiled Hepper.
