Groundwork done; time for support and cooperation

In an effort to move McClusky to a finer state of function on all fronts, the Strategic Planning committee has completed the first stages of the groundwork necessary to forming action items for the community.
A public meeting will be held on Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. for all members of the community and other interested persons at the McClusky City Community Center. Refreshments will be served.
The meeting will unveil the steps that met with the most positive responses and were formed from the base lines drawn from previous efforts at community action.
The last strategic plan completed by former Sheridan County Extension Agent Kent Alderin and local businessman Brian Tinker, as well as the Horizons group’s lists of needs, wants, and action items, were all considered. They served as examples of what the community wanted at that time and which projects proved successful.
The effort will be coordinated by USDA Community Development Area Director Alisa Dahl, and is led by McClusky Mayor Roberta Hunt, and chairman for the McClusky Job Development Authority. The group will now seek the general public’s input and direction for the next steps.
Addressing the poverty issues as reflected on several fronts such as income levels, age and education, housing needs and general census profiles of the county as a whole, is the basis for the call to action on many fronts.
