Grass, water, potholes issues for June city meeting

The McClusky City Council addressed issues of concern for the citizens of the town at their June 13 meeting.
Councilperson Roberta Hunt mentioned issues that have been brought to her attention, though not at the level of “complaint” by her fellow town residents.
These include the potholes in the streets, the cuts on the curbs from various snow removal efforts, the houses where grass isn’t mowed for most of the year, if at all; and the times when the water runs red/yellow or simply opaque. “Looks like a cup of tea sometimes,” she noted.
The issues were all addressed by the other council members and/or the city maintenance person, Steve Murray.
The water discoloration can happen when the swimming pool is filled. The resulting water flow and pressure bring up residue from the bottom of the water mains and it flushes out into private homes along the routes. It can be any of the colors mentioned and also not clear. It generally subsides after the fill.
Hunt noted it would be nice if the citizens could have some warning, possibly by cable community access channel television, when this is going to happen. The council will address the concern for the next planned fill or flush.
Murray also noted that they ran out of water when the elevator burned, and “Booster A” locked them out of the water system. The Booster is part of the McLean Sheridan Water System and designed to prevent water leakage in an emergency break or similar situation. He stated that he sat in the tower two hours on and two hours off for the whole night to fill the tower back up.
