Goodrich American Legion holds Memorial Day service
Goodrich American Legion and Auxiliary Albert Block Post #56 held its Memorial Day service on Monday, May 25, at the Goodrich School gym. The title for the program was, "Heroes don’t wear capes. They wear dog tags."
Goodrich Legionnaires advanced the Colors. The audience recited "Pledge to the Flag" and Chaplain Myron Berg gave the invocation.
Maria, Brook and Laneisha Steichen with their mother, Heidi Steichen at the piano, sang "America."
Goodrich Commander Kenneth "Butch" Konschak presented the welcome.
Goodrich Auxiliary President Karen Feickert spoke on "Freedom Is Not Free or Have We Forgotten?"
Master Sergeant Erica Robinson was guest speaker. Robinson is stationed at Minot Air Force Base and assigned to inspector general’s office. She has served in the military 18 years and has traveled to Saudi Arabia and Guam.
Robinson is originally from Garrison and was accompanied today by her husband, Technical Sergeant Jon Robinson who is responsible for B-52 and helicopter refueling and has served 19 years in the Air Force with tours to Iraq.
They were joined by their daughter, Ava.
