With a big and generous heart behind what she does within her own life, Janneen Piper was also quick to point out the generous and sympathetic communities of Goodrich, Denhoff and McClusky. “The kids had a wonderful Christmas because of these communities,” she stated.
The kids she spoke about are her four grandchildren that came for the summer and now stay with her. The move came out of the current job situation in Michigan and the lost employment for the children’s parents. They decided it would be much better for the children to remain with the grandparents in one spot, then to have to shuffle among the various employments and housing locations that the parents were able to obtain. The four children all attend the Goodrich School and the Pipers live in Denhoff: they are Kaylyn, 14; Kristin, 13; Randy, 11; and Lacey, eight.
The Pipers purchased the former Tal and Karen Whitmire home in Denhoff and have become familiar to area residents with their guitar (Michael) and vocal (both) musical talents. They have played at many gatherings, including the Senior Citizens Center in McClusky and the Denhoff Community Center.
Michael remains employed at Polar Ware in McClusky, where he runs “Press #19” on the second shift that he has worked since May of 2008.
