Eight winners in Farmers market draw
By ALLAN TINKER
With McClusky Farmers Market President Rita Haux recording winners, Market Manager Linda Bowers offered the tickets to willing hands to draw from the collection and find who would have a McClusky Merchants gift certificate for $25. Winners were: Steve Murray, Janice Erdmann, Barb Teumer, Francis Scott, Kelly Gessner, Cheryl Helm, Karla Martwick and Pearl Meckle.
The Markets are held each year in the Heart Park along Highway 200, just west off Main Street. The open area with tables and benches provides a pleasant place to socialize and also compare prices and varieties for sale. There are three to eight vendors who sell their goods, on average, each year, though some do not sell every week.
The drawing concluded the market in McClusky for 2014, with regular and new customers alike enjoying their vegetables fresh from the garden and in enough quantity to "put away a few" for winter enjoyment. Along with vegetables, some vendors offered baked goods, jellies, jewelry, and other goods including craft and rummage items for purchase.
The McClusky Farmers Market opened in early July, with a steady increase in available produce as the late season warmed up and plants offered heavier and heavier crops. With the last fall vegetables appearing, the last market was held on Sept 3, with approximately 25 people gathered for the last drawing.
