Dragons school identity discussed

In a move to restore an identity to the school outside of the mutual co-op sports names, the McClusky School board members briefly discussed the idea of restoring the Dragons logo and name to various functions of the school. It seemed without argument that the various shifts in names have left the school without an identity of its own, especially noticed when awards are designed for music and other activities. The colors black and orange were also recalled as being distinctive and still familiar to many in the community.
The Dragon name became little used after the McClusky and Goodrich School joined in an effort to keep sports alive in both schools. To do this in fairness, they decided to not use either school’s mascot or logo but to select another one, which resulted in the blue and red and white coyotes for Sheridan County sports teams.
When a later effort to consolidate the schools failed, the co-ops also disbanded over a period of time, leaving memories but nothing validated around which to center an identity. The further co-op efforts with the Central McLean Cougars and the Turtle Lake-Mercer Trojans have split the students in still other identities, depending upon which sport they participate. If possible other changes are made in co-ops, which are temporary agreements, other names may enter the futures, and memories, of the students.
