Crash Course draws good crowd

Registration started promptly at 6 p.m. as students and their parents and in some cases, whole families, came to participate in "Crash Course", a ‘get ready for college’ workshop held at McClusky High School on November 19, Thursday evening, organized by Donna Lipp, teacher since 1983. Those registering picked up a binder with printouts of the different sessions, out of which they could choose three to attend.
During the meal provided at the beginning, participants, around half from McClusky, had a chance to go through the material to pick out the info sessions that would take them to various classrooms in the school until they rejoined in the Home Economics classroom to debrief at 8:15 p.m. and fill out their evaluations. Each evaluation, one for students and one for parents, gave the attendees an opportunity to win a Laptop or a Digital Camera in the drawing at the end of the evening.
The question "What are you here for?" received different responses from different teenagers. "I want to know how to get money for college", or "My mother made me come", or "I’m not a senior yet but I want to start planning for college" while another said, "I really want to know what ‘Life after High School’ is like", referring to one of the sessions that was being offered.
