COVID uptick results in Halloween cancellations

No pancakes, no sausage, no hayride, no Merchant’s meeting, no Pumpkin Festival, no Friday night dance. Sadness hangs over school and community. Bertsie’s Drive-in is
closing November 5 for the winter season, also. Gone, for now, are the German burgers, malts, and tacos in the bag. With the biggest numbers yet, since the pandemic reraised
its ugly presence in Sheridan County, McClusky School officials put into action their Smart Restart plans, developed over the past year. The kids are on distance learning protocol. The daycare is closed, families in quarantine or isolation, and many are asking what happened. Other counties around us have also seen various responses, some increase in deaths and more active cases than last winter. The schools are adjusting to pre-set plans, dealing with sick personnel, teachers and students at all levels. Goodrich is continuing in-school
classes. Shirley Murray stated the courthouse is open to the public this week, as scheduled. Those who have been ill have reported the usual symptoms, with different levels
of acuteness.
