Co-Op Elevator sponsors science lessons for McClusky Elementary students
On November 5, 2019 BAYER CropScience, along with the Co-op Elevator of McClusky, went to the elementary school and spent time with the first and second graders; then the third and fourth grades. Peter Comis (Bayer chemical rep), Nick Smith (Bayer seed representative), and Kendon Faul and Kody Faul (Co-op Elevator of McClusky) explained why Science was important to us.
The kids were able to be a part of five different experiments.
First: They put a black line (with Sketcher Marker) on a coffee filter strip. Then the filter was placed (upright) in a small amount of water. As the filter absorbed the water, it caused the pigment in the black to travel upward or downward. The kids were able to observe all the colors in the color spectrum as they moved. Some moved quickly and others moved slowly.
Second: Jumping – They put in a clear cup of Sprite. The carbon dioxide (bubbles) attached to the Craisins causing them to float to the surface. The bubbles would then pop and the Craisins would fall to the bottom of the cup and the process would start all over again.
