City hears police and maintenance updates

The short November meeting of the McClusky City Council was held on Nov. 14. No mice were found in the search of the heating vents and the odor noticed at a previous meeting was no longer detectable.
Deputy Delbert Hoffman re-ported that Halloween had gone quietly with no reports or complaints from that event. All three officers were on duty, he noted.
An arrest has been made on a recent burglary but no court action set yet, he noted.
A low-risk sex offender has moved into McClusky but no further notice is required due to the low risk status of that person, stated Hoffman. All sex offenders are listed on the North Dakota government website and available by county, city location or as a whole.
A dog bit situation on the north end of town is supposed to be resolved, said Hoffman. He thinks the dog/s were removed after the incident.
The city officials discussed a better system of enforcing dog licensing and control of animals that periodically run at large. One official noted that some are fined often and still the animals run loose.
Hoffman noted that the offense fines increase with each violation when dealt with in city court. Citizens have been reminded that complaints need to be made to the police in order for any action to be taken on these violations.
Steve Murray, city maintenance, stated that when the wind is favorable, and it isn’t a holiday or a weekend, he will get the huge pile of wood scraps burned at the city dump. The embers need to drift over the “slough” to contain the fire residue so that requires a north/northwest wind.
