City goes for clean, well kept, and work completed

The McClusky City Council was hep on the idea of having things done and on time. The Christmas lights were high on the agenda. Maintenance Steve Murray assured them he would have them up soon, and lit. The work of going back to plug them in later is not coincident with efficiency.
Hep defintion: “aware, up-to-date,” first recorded 1908 in “Saturday Evening Post,” but said to be underworld slang, of unknown origin. Variously said to have been the name of “a fabulous detective who operated in Cincinnati” or a saloonkeeper in Chicago who “never quite understood what was going on.
Murray told them the “dump ground is gone for the year; it is dark at 6 p.m.”
This spring he agreed that he would flush the hydrants, something that he said didn’t get done because he talks to Marlin (McLean Sheridan Water) and “There is always some problem with doing it.”
