Chickens, resignation, threat and regulations fill city meeting

By ALLAN TINKER
The September 14 meeting of the McClusky City Council was quiet but dealt with several controversial issues. The long-sought change to the city ordinance regarding
pets, which will add chickens to the ordinance’s limit, is in process of being changed. Through diligent effort of resident Frank Teumer, 89 signatures were gathered for a petition
to allow poultry in small numbers in private yards. The rules the City of Mandan uses will be the guide to establishing the ordinance change for McClusky. A limit of ten pets
per household will remain in force. House owners will be able to select their personal pet choice up to that limit. No roosters. Tom Giese, maintenance person for the city for approximately seven years, turned in his resignation, effective September 28, 2020.
