Champions in feeder steers recognized

The awards highlighted the champions in steers that gained, those who bred and raised them, and a lot of hard work on the part of the Dakota Feeder Calf Show people who put stars on ranching report cards for all to see.
Taking 2013 Supreme Carcass Championship was Byron Zingg, McClusky. He received a jacket and $400.
Sale Calf Champion 2013 honors went to buyer Dakota West Credit Union and breeder Sorenson Ranch; they received trophies and $300 and $200, respectively.
Top Hand Award for 2013 went to Tim Hanson, who received a jacket. Jan Hanson picked up the award for husband Tim, as corn chopping duties came before banquets on the farming scale of priorities.
Top Gaining Steer 2013 honor went to Darrel O’Shea who received a jacket.
People’s Choice for 2014 in the 600-700 pound division went to Brown Ranch and in the 500-600 pound division Lazy R Ranch won. They both received trophies.
Live Judging champion for 2014 went to Chad Kraft with steers in the 600-700 pound division; Lazy R Ranch again took honors in the 500-600 pound division. They each received $300 and a jacket.
Wrapping up the honors for both 2013 (which is impacted by the success of the calves on trial at Carrington in weight gain and carcass quality) and 2014, which are this year’s steers fresh off the ranch and headed out to prove what they can do at the Carrington feeding trials were: second place carcass champion: Lazy R Ranch, $300 and a trophy; third place in carcass, Sorenson Ranch, $200 and a trophy; fourth place, Arland Kramer $100 and a trophy.
