The December 4 meeting of the Sheridan County Commissioners dealt with minor and major issues, all taken care of in a busy season.
The courthouse is decorated with Christmas themed items, but no lunch will be offered this year to the public. ‘Everyone is out of energy this year,’ was the reason given.
Jerone Sauter and Walter Filler are up for reappointment to their respective boards, weed and water, but a call will be made to see if they are willing and able to serve another term.
Debbie Miller was reappointed to the school reorganization board.
James Haux is also up for appointment to the weed board. Commissioner Ehrman stated he would talk to him about whether he wishes to serve again.
The State’s Attorney contract will be reviewed for Ladd Erickson to continue to serve Sheridan County until the next election. He can then enter his name to continue the position by vote of the county residents, said Auditor Shirley Murray.
The jury box renovation, to make room for the legs of jurors, essentially. Jurors are forced to sit sideways if they are tall, which is tiring in long trials. A grant from the ND Supreme Court is the source of the remodeling funds, according to Murray. More room for the court reporter will also be done.
