Bus barn highlighted in year-end update

Bus barn highlighted in year-end update

By ALLAN TINKER
Though not first on the list of things to review, the news of concrete and in-floor heating tubing for the bus barn was welcome news to the school board members on August 27. Layers of glycol, sand, and Styrofoam surround the tubing. With many years of suffering water, ice, and door difficulties, the McClusky School District’s buses will have an
easily accessible parking spot. Bus drivers and mechanics will also have the conveniences of concrete cleanliness and a promise of better working temperatures in the heated wash bay and repair areas. A dividing wall is still under construction in the large building. LED lights will provide efficient lighting and a standby generator is planned to be added in the
future for the buses in case of power failure. The elementary building is in good share roof-wise with the custodian working on the fresh air exchange issue. In the high school, there was a wet spot in the music room that needs attention or repair and the shop roof leaks in vocational ag headquarters. The special meeting addressed many issues from
the building reports to introduction of areas of policy for new school board members. Foundation aid calculations are based upon the number of full time students on October 1 and the last day of school. If a student drops out after October 1, the aid drops to one-half for that student. Foundation aid is approximately $10,000 per year.
