Brush Lake man killed in bike accident

At approximately 5 p.m. on May 5, Donald Duane Dockter, 58, Bismarck, died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 41 near Mercer. According to NDHP information, the motorcycle left the highway, entered a ditch, hit an embankment and then continued in the ditch. Dockter was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

He was the son of Erwin and Marian (Selzer) Dockter, Harvey and was raised in Goodrich, until 1965 when they moved to Bismarck. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1976 and went on to Wahpeton State School of Science, graduating in 1978 with a mechanical draftsman degree.

He began employment with Doosan in 1981, was currently working as a CADD Application Engineer and was recently recognized for his years of service.

He enjoyed being outdoors, riding his Harley, golfing, and spending time at Brush Lake where he was a very active board member for the MBLCA. He was recently an integral part of the renovation and opening of ‘The Shore Bar and Grill’ at the lake.
