Baker tells tales in special article

NHSC Press Release, edited
In communities around the country, many local health care sites are staffed and supported by members of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), a team of quality providers who bring services to communities with limited access to care. As they celebrate the 40th anniversary of their program this year, they are featuring one clinician a week, and this week the outstanding provider is Sarah Baker - a family nurse practitioner in McClusky, ND!
For many without medical coverage or reliable income, primary health care providers are essential to the prevention and treatment of major health conditions. Sarah is one such provider. Five days a week, she drives from Bismarck to McClusky to treat the residents of Sheridan County at the Northland Community Health Center.
“[The clinic is] more like a home, than a clinic. We want it to be our patients’ medical home,” Sarah Baker says.  She cares for multiple generations of the same family - ranging from check-ups to newborns, reassurance of new parents, and complex health issues of the older members of the community.
