Baker continues to head local medical staff

The continuing strong lead of Sarah Baker, BS, MSN, FNP, has been the focal point of medical service in the McClusky Clinic. The local branch of Northland Community Health Center serves Sheridan County residents and is one of three units of the whole: Turtle Lake and Rolette are the other two that make up the complete center.
Baker lives in Bismarck with Methodist pastor husband Ray, and continues to commute, something she enjoys in the quieter days, giving her time to enjoy the scenery, the activities of the communities through which she drives and the abundance of wildlife for which the area is so famous.
Baker previously worked in ER settings and most recently turned down an opportunity for more such employment. “I couldn’t leave ‘my people’,” she smiled. “I have worked in everything except obstetrics,” she said in an earlier interview. She also has worked in the emergency room of Turtle Lake Memorial Hospital on a rotation basis.
Baker, from Sheldon where she was raised on a cattle and small grain farm by parents Dave and Sally Kaspari, is one of nine siblings. Her experiences of childhood, and their family doctor, influenced her own reason for pursuing the treatment area where she could have her “own practice” also.
When she started employment in early 2009, Baker stated, “No one is running the ship nowadays. We need to get the whole picture: body, mind and spirit together, a holistic look at what is wrong with the patient. I really believe that. If mom is stressed with a sick child, that is part of her health, too. I am very passionate about this.”
