August good month for corny events

Anamoose and Goodrich residents both had corn on the cob to eat on August 19.
In Anamoose, the Anamoose Area Community Foundation put on their annual corn feed and sold raffle tickets. They served corn, hot dogs, hamburger and lots of trimmings, including slices of and/or whole pies this year. Area residents volunteered pies, as well as the members of the foundation, with corn and other items also donated.
Frances Seefeld, with his wife Sally keeping him company, entertained on the accordion. He recently had a triple bypass and, like most partners, Sally was keeping a close eye that he didn’t overdo it. He has been playing since he was 13 years old and turned 78 this past November. He likes to play for events and didn’t want to miss this one.
Other workers that were busy getting ready at 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 19, were Buck Bucholz, Vernon Heer, Bill Goodwin, Joe Weninger, Brent Weninger, Shirley Nitz, Dennis Zimmerman, Kathy Rademacher, Phyllis Zimmerman, Rose Wen-inger, Janice Bucholz, Alyce Heer, Gladys Degenstein and Darlene Sattler.
The group serves about 150 people each event, which lasts until 1 p.m. Other events on the same day and the day before included a demo derby and music for dancing.
