A Christmas of continuing traditions
By ALLAN TINKER
Christmas for Elsie Reiswig has always been about family. “It was always at our house,” she said. The family tradition will be broken this year, due to a knee injury. “I can’t stay
alone,” she added. “I will be at the home for Christmas as it is too hard to walk.” “At first, we had just a few decorations, but we always had a tree. There were special foods, turkey and trimmings, a little present for everyone, usually the same thing for each one. We also had pie and other good stuff to eat. “Once I made rag dolls for all the little kids, and a few
other things as well, or we bought gifts. “We were in our old house in east McClusky for 40 years. Then we moved to the new one that Larry Thiele built a few years before he quit the lumber yard here in town. “The kids came to our house”. She speaks of her and her late husband Sam’s three children, Duane, Kathy and Randy. Now there is granddaughter
Babett in town, and seven other grandchildren and 10 “greats.” “We have been having Christmas in the new house for 38 years.
