Local mother serves on HIAND board
After her son’s vehicle accident and severe brain injury, and the long recovery process still involving them, Rhonda Boehm, McClusky, was offered and accepted a position on HIAND, the Head Injury Association of North Dakota.
Normal is today; yesterday is gone
The day, May 17, 2002, will stand out forever in Rhonda Boehm’s memory. The phone call from sister-in-law Lynnette Boehm; the sight of her son Eric face down in the ditch, still but still breathing in shallow breaths.
Goodrich American Legion holds birthday program
Goodrich American Legion and Auxiliary Albert Block Post 56 held their delayed birthday program on Tuesday evening, April 5 at the Goodrich School gym. The program was postponed from March 22 because of a winter storm.
Holens whoop it up for first anniversary
With a near-plethora of prizes for children and a grill, picnic basket and gift certificate for the adults, Holen’s Super Valu put on a very festive event for their first anniversary on March 30.
Local family aids ailing sister and aunt
On March 15, Karissa Erdmann, Goodrich, cut and donated her hair to make wigs for cancer patients. She is in her first year at Minot State University and donated her hair once before when she was in eighth grade.
Sports Co-op reviews schedule and policy issues
With several items to discuss, the Underwood-Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky sports co-op held a regular meeting on March 24, a Thursday, at the TL-M School ITV room. 12 members from the schools were present. Supt. Peltier led the meeting that was delayed by a previously scheduled meeting conflict for the McClusky participants.
When pigs fly and turtles have feathers
You probably haven’t seen pigs fly yet, someone hasn’t accomplished this task. But consider feathered turtles! They have arrived, at least on the crafty side of life.
School board moves forward
After recognition for the music department’s two stars and “2” ratings, the McClusky School board heard Supt. Lee Kelm’s report for the month on March 15 at the Home Economics room at the school.
March blizzard strands hundreds
Central North Dakota was still in winter mode on Friday, March 11, when the forecasted winds and snow descended to stall traffic, interrupt power, and send people and schools scurrying to find safe homes for the night.
Sportsmen follow January supper with March fish fry
The busy McClusky Sportsman’s Club held their annual fundraiser, a fish fry, on Sunday, March 13, at the American Legion Quarters in McClusky. This is the same location as their landowner appreciation supper held on January 30.
