After wet weather struck the Washburn area Thursday night, the Cardinals baseball team was disappointed to learn their first game of the season had to be canceled. An hour later, the game was back on, but moved to Ray. The team hopped on the bus and made the 2½ hour drive up, nabbing two wins from the Jays.

"We had a slow start, leaving five runners in scoring position through the first few innings, but the team responded and played well the second half of the game," head coach Kip Erickson said.

Trevor Schreiner pitched seven scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks. Schreiner also went 2 for 4, and tallied 2 RBIs.

Garrett Mosbrucker got the nod in the second game and gave up 2 runs, but the Cardinals slugged their way to a 12-run first inning. The game was called after the third, due to the 10-run rule. Nolan Teigen had a solid two-game series going 4 for 7, along with Schreiner going 4 for 6.
