A youthful Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton team took to the diamond this past week hoping to polish off a few of the rough edges of the early season.

First up, a trip to Kidder County on April 14th, for a blustery Tuesday afternoon twin bill against a Region 8 foe.

Right off the bus, the Cardinals struck, picking up two runs in the first frame. The Pirates would answer with one in the bottom of the stanza.

The Cardinals struck again in the second, pushing another run across the plate, but in the bottom of the inning, the Kidder County offense came to life, as six runners would cross home plate.

Goose eggs would dominate the scoreboard for the next three innings.

WWCS would strike again in the sixth, pushing another run across the plate. But in the bottom of the inning the Pirates would locate their bats once more, scoring six in the sixth, and four more again in the bottom of the seventh to take the first game 13 to 4.
