Wolves and Bulldogs take down Cardinals

The Washburn Cardinal Volleyball team finished off their regular season play last week with games against the Flasher Bulldogs and the Watford City Wolves.

Neither went especially well for the Cardinals. They lost on the road to Flasher 3-0 and while the team managed to steal a set off Watford City, the evening still ended with a 3-1 defeat.

Facing one of the better teams from District 9 on their home court isn’t a very good draw for a reeling Cardinals team that was looking to recover a bit of their confidence before the post-season.

Washburn got good production from both Kaden Schulte and Kenady Hansen, a lot of that came in the second set which was the most competitive of the three.

After dropping the first set 25-16, the Cardinals nearly pulled an upset equalizer in the second, but the Bulldogs won out 25-23.

There was no recovering after that for Washburn with Flasher putting out a dominating third set to complete the sweep 25-12.
