It was an abridged week for the Wilton-Wing Miners basketball teams with their only action coming on a Tuesday double-header while on the road against the Center-Stanton Wildcats. But this one game was an important one for both Miner teams; a win for the girls kept them in a four-way deadlock for the district number one spot while the boys needed a solid district win, not only to improve their post-season seed but to help build a level of confidence in their play. It would come to pass that both Wilton-Wing teams would get what they needed by carrying the night on both fronts with the girls winning 52-44 and the boys overcoming the Wildcats 51-41. Getting the court first, the Lady Miners swiftly went to work against the Wildcats, taking an 11-point advantage by halftime. Along with perimeter work by Heidi Clausen with 15 points and Tienna Johnson adding another 12, the Miners were actually led by the post play of Paige Hausauer who tallied a game-high 17 points. The Wildcats gave a valiant effort in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Miners 19-10, but by that time Wilton-Wing was so far ahead that it didn’t matter as the Miner girls took the win 52-44.
