Wilton-Wing powers through Max

After defeating Washburn in the first round, the Wilton-Wing Miners had a big task ahead of them on Friday going up against the top-seeded Garrison Troopers.

Undefeated in district play and 18-1 on the year, the Troopers are the most dominant team that District 10 has seen in many years. But that success hasn't come without its challenges.

The Miners themselves gave Garrison a run in their 41-37 encounter during the regular season, where the Troopers got the benefit of some poor Wilton-Wing free-throw shooting to come away with the win down in Wilton.

The rematch would prove to be another battle between these two teams.

McKenna Weisenburger scored the first basket of the game and Tonya Dickson followed that up with back-to-back three-pointers that jumped the Miners out to a 8-0 lead in the first quarter.

Garrison is a potent three-point shooting team, but they didn't have the stroke to start the game and their long balls repeatedly missed their mark. Instead, the Troopers went to Taylor Kamp's short game to get them on the scoreboard.
