Wilton-Wing holds off Hazen for fifth victory
Wilton-Wing went on a 39-20 run during the middle quarters to take the lead for good, and the Miners held on for a 71-66 victory over Hazen, Jan. 2, in Wilton. The Miners improved to 5-1 on the season, while Hazen fell to 3-4.
Hazen led for most of the way during the opening period and grabbed a 12-6 advantage after Tyson Wick scored on a fast break with just over two minutes left in the frame. After WW closed the gap to 14-13 on a three-pointer by Hunter Wolff, Wick and Riley Walters knocked down three-pointers for Hazen in the final minute to give the Bison their biggest lead (20-13) of the game.
