Washburn-Wilton track focuses on regional goal

The Washburn-Wilton track teams focused their energies on two track meets last week, the Badlands Conference in Bowman where both the girls and boys teams took sixth, and the Hazen meet where the girls took fourth and the boys sixth place. In regard to the Hazen meet, Head Coach Shayla Sinclair said, "It was a decent meet for us. Most notably, Joelle Reiser broke her own pole vault record with a vault of seven feet. Tiffany Jaeger cut about ten seconds off of her mile, and Monty Johnson jumped into the long jump for the first time ever and did a great job to make finals." Sinclair has seen the growing potential of each of the track team members. One standout, Wilton junior Brian Tschosik, has been really stepping up for Washburn-Wilton in the sprint department and placing. Sinclair noted that he’s starting to get out of the blocks better and is finishing his races strong. Going into the Badlands Conference meet in Bowman on Tuesday, May 5, Washburn-Wilton wasn’t concerned with the number of points they earned. "But it was nice to see that we did end up scoring pretty well as a team overall," said Sinclair. Both the boys and girls varsity teams came in sixth at the Badlands Conference and they won the JV boys division, and got second in JV girls.
