Washburn turnovers costly against Mott-Regent

The Washburn Cardinal Football team is, as they say in the football world, "in command of their own destiny." A win in either of their last two games assures them a trip to the post-season playoffs. They had their first shot last week against the Mott-Regent Wildfire. Although they clearly had the momentum at points to make it happen, the Cardinals never led at any time in Friday’s game. Untimely turnovers cut short potential opportunities and Washburn was saddled with the 24-38 loss. A few minutes into the game, the Cardinals were already forced into playing from two touchdowns behind. A long catch and run and a 13-yard rush both gave the Wildfire touchdowns early in the game. "We gave them a two touchdown lead in the first four minutes and that put us in a deficit we couldn’t overcome," said Washburn Head Coach Pete Moe.
