Washburn tramples Grant County

The hometown Cards made Grant County’s nearly 2-hour bus trip back to Elgin a little longer, as they steamrolled the Coyotes 60-34.
But while Washburn was the deeper and more talented team, Jeff Brandt’s crew was slow off the mark early on and actually fell behind 9-7 late in the first quarter of the Feb. 9 matchup.
Their coach didn’t want to stand around and wait for his diesel engine to warm up. Instead, he decided to jump start the offense by benching his entire starting five.
