Washburn secures number one seed in district

By Danielle Abbott

Make-up games and late week cancellations made this a unique week for the Lady Cardinals. Starting off Tuesday on their home court, the girls geared up for a match with Sheridan County. Head coach Keith Jacobson said that the girls played intense throughout the game, and that showed on the scoreboard. Senior Jennifer Wicklander jumped out in front, leading the pack with 13 points and six assists. She was followed in points by Cori Moberg who had 10 points. Jacobson said that Kelcie Beckman also played a nice all around game. Beckman had seven points and five rebounds. "She really picked up her intensity and also drove the ball very well," Jacobson said. Securing the win for the Cardinals on Tuesday was extremely important for their future in the upcoming district tournament. With a final score of 54-37 in the Cards’ favor, Jacobson said that this was a huge win for the girls.
