Waloch takes third at state cross country

After a long season, the Southern McLean Roughrider cross country team made the trek to Fargo for the state meet and a strong finish to their 2011 season. Abi Waloch earned all-state honors by placing in the top 20 at third place while the team as a whole did well by placing 13th out of the 38 teams and having many personal bests for the runners. “I felt the state meet went well,” co-coach Vicky Bender said. “Each girl had a goal in mind that they wanted to set. They were working on personal bests … and placement. We finished 13th in the team standings and considered that very good for the team … we were very happy to have ended the season so well.” Waloch placed third with a time of 15:26.91, just slightly ahead of the fourth place girl who came in at 15:26:92.
