Velva takes Legion Title; WWCS ousted early
Velva will be taking the number one seed from the Class A West Division into the State Legion Baseball Tournament after topping Beulah 6-1 in last weekend’s divisional tournament in Washburn.
Makoti will take the number three spot from the west, while Watford City goes into the tournament as West’s number four seed.
Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton was eliminated from the tournament in the second round after falling to 3-0 to Velva, that coming after a 13-6 first-round loss to Watford City.
WWCS’s Jared Mitzel took the loss on the hill against Velva, giving up three hits. WWCS also had three hits for the game, but was unable to get anybody to cross the plate.
