For Jade and Lauren Koski, playing side by side is just part of their typical Miner basketball season. But this summer, the Wing twins took an adventure together to a new court, far from home.
The Koski girls, who will enter their senior year at Wing High School this fall, spent a week this summer bonding with, training next to and competing against some of the best athletes in the country. Jade and Lauren would team up with other North Dakota basketball players to compete in this year’s annual Flying Hawaiian Classic, held in Honolulu.
The girls, who said they’ve been playing basketball for as long as they can remember, found out in March that they were going to Hawaii and were excited to compete with such talented players.
“I was happy to be given the opportunity to play in Hawaii with some pretty amazing basketball players and have such an amazing experience,” Jade said.
The girls said because of conflicting schedules, they didn’t get to practice with their new teammates until they arrived in Hawaii, but that they trained together to prepare.
“We shot around like normal and played with our high school team at league nights,” The girls said in an email.
