Much like their counterparts on the boys team, the Lady Cardinals didn’t have much to celebrate last week with a pair of road losses coming against Garrison and Grant County.
Although they bounced back from a poor second quarter to give the district’s top team a challenge down the stretch, Garrison still came out ahead 45-37 in Tuesday night’s matchup. Regional opponent Grant County scored early and often to rack up plenty of points to down the Cardinals 70-42 on Friday.
Washburn may have taken the Troopers off guard in the opening quarter of their game with the Cardinals leading the scoring pace 13-12.
It was a short lived feeling; however, as Washburn followed up to score only two points in the second quarter, while Garrison continued their steady attack to lead 25-15 at half time.
The light switch flipped back on in the third quarter and the Cardinals rekindled their ability to get the ball through the basket.
