Wilton-Wing fell just short of the Thunder in three sets of close competition last week.
The Miners met Medina-Pingree/Buchanan on Wilton-Wing’s home court on Sept. 20 and a head to head battle ensued.
The first set saw the Thunder gain a lead over the home team, pulling ahead by a few points. The Miners worked to close the gap and overtake MPB, but the Thunder would take the first set with a narrow 25-22 victory.
Set No. 2 would play out much the same, with Wilton-Wing again behind on the scoreboard. The Miners would stay close, but would eventually come up just short, as MPB took a two-point lead and the second set.
The Miners would attempt to take the third set and earn a chance at playing for the win in set four, but MPB had other plans. The Thunder would again get the best of Wilton-Wing and come out on top with a 25-18 victory.
MPB would take the game 3-0.
