Standing Rock folds to Magic Miners

Wilton-Wing’s knock-out, drag-out slugfest victory over Standing Rock was very much like the Feb. 8 battle engaged by both teams, but this time around the local boys went into overtime to beat the Warriors 80-73 to advance to the Region 5 tournament final.
The March 8 postseason showdown saw both teams go at each other with a series of haymakers, with the likes of Trey Koski, Cael Hilzendeger and Dontaye Fetzer masterfully responding to their opponents’ offensive exploits — particularly Drew Bordeaux who tossed in two 3’s in the first quarter.
The first frame ended, however, with Standing Rock up by 5, as the Miners had their share of issues penetrating inside given the
sheer size and athletic ability of Ty Giroux and the 6-foot-6 Carter Harrison.
