The Southern McLean Cross Country Team traveled to the Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot this past Saturday for the competition they’ve been waiting for all season – state.
With a sunny sky and temperatures in the mid-50s at race time, athletes from across the state had near-perfect weather for running.
Led by a third place finish from junior Kate Fox, with a time of 15 minutes, 13.53 seconds, the Southern McLean girls took second place at the State Cross Country Meet, with 131 team points.
The Roughriders finished just 15 points behind four-time consecutive first place winners, the Hillsboro-Central Valley Burros.
Rounding out the top five teams were Shiloh Christian (139), Bowman County (182) and Killdeer (201).
